In the model district of Wartheland, the killing of sick people was planned by the district administration’s Department of Health and Physical Education. A Central Office for Patient Transport and a special registry office were set up within the district administration to carry out and record the killings. In the area for which he was responsible, Governor and Gauleiter Arthur Greiser created a structure for the murder of more than 6,000 sick people. This structure was transferred to ‘Aktion T4’ in 1940. The murder techniques were also developed and tested in the ‘Wartheland,’ in particular various methods of killing with gas.
