STUTTGART
The »children’s ward« in Stuttgart was located at the Municipal Children’s Hospital and Children’s Home at Birkenwaldstraße 1. The »children’s ward« itself was located at Türlenstraße 22, the former Municipal Children’s Hospital. From January 1943 to April 1945, more than 50 children and adolescents were murdered there. The perpetrators were Medical Director Karl Lempp and pediatrician Magdalene Schütte.
In 1947, Lempp was fined 2,000 Reichsmarks by the Stuttgart Denazification Court. He retained his position as head of the Municipal Health Office until his retirement in 1950. Schütte enjoyed a successful career after the war and retired in 1967 as chief physician of the children’s hospital. A preliminary investigation against her was dropped in 1963.
